I've always liked catching pike but only occasionally targeted them up until the last few years. I've got the bug and have been having fun specifically going after the big ones which is a different challenge.

Ice went off the river a couple weeks ago and I went after some post spawn pike. Boated a couple over 40" using dead bait. Fun fish to catch. Any other pike fishermen out there. Pike.JPG

Closest thing we have are jackfish (chain pickerel). As fun as they are to catch I would love to get on some big northerns.

There are (were ) some really big ones in our area. This was from winter in 1999.

Funny Bang...I remember when that article was published. It was a big story at work at the time. Some pig ones up your way for sure.

Rumor of a 50" one being caught on Devils Lake (ND) this spring.

Nice fish bullpinnie...north of the border fish?

Yep, ...English river. My brother with a 45, and me with a 42.
It is amazing to me how once they get over 40, their head sizes increase exponentially.

Never fished the English but have talked about it.
Those big heads are impressive, especially when you're pulling one up a hole in the ice.
