I was looking for the flood up maps on the SAC site NWR. They aren't listed yet and I heard a rumor they will not be at 100% on opener. Anyone have confirmation on this?

Called Sac- not all blinds will be open. Blind availability maps will be posted before shoot day. wow. Tried to call San Luis, but contact person wasn't available.

I've heard Sutter will be open. Anyone know if that's true?

Last I heard there were to many leaves falling from the surrounding trees. They deemed it unsafe until all leaves have dropped.

I heard the ph balance was off, but I could be easily swayed by the falling leaf theory.

This has been normal practice for a long time. The refuge managers feel that if they flood the entire refuge too early, the birds will have nothing to eat. Like someone else said, I don't think they are going to eat all the cockleburs that quick.

San Luis should be fully flooded by the opener. About half the ponds flooded in September and the other half in October.

Kesterson should be close to 100% and Merced everything flooded except 13-15 at this point but there are 3 new blinds so quota should be 100%.

State area flood up maps are available through the CDFW website for Grassland areas. They are stage flooding again so the opener will have less water then later but some of the quotas are slightly increasing from the original plan.

If you are talking about the Facebook post that was me lol. Seems ridiculous to think that a couple ponds make a difference to the birds for staying around...
