All were made with scrapes that where lying around expect Blackhead hen head. Woodcock contains some of the ashes of my hunting partner's birddog.

Have 6 of the 14 bodies with the basic shapes done. Will have to attach the heads before I can finish that part, but that's for a different day. Have two body styles for these guys, some with crossed wing tips, some with split wings straight back. Overall length of these tip of tail to tip of bill is 18-19 inches.

743351B6-F750-4AA6-A4E7-DEB900C8174F.jpeg Three of these birds currently are glued up and needing a sanding prior to sealing.

One is an urn for a good friend. The other two are a retirement gift for a different friend.

Heads were carved around the campfire on a hunting trip. Bodies all hand tooled in the shop.

Simple counterfeit of the Ward 36 bird.

Basic shape done on all 14 and the heads are epoxied on. Good place to quit for the day.

Gene do you reinforce your primaries with anything? I noticed they are undercut quite a bit and was unsure of the durability. Great work by the way you have more decoys going on at one time than what I do in a year.

I have always liked that head shape of those cans. I have made a few pieces of firewood trying to get one to look right. :l :z

A 36 ward can is a beautiful bird. They've got some great lines.

Any tips that are undercut have a nail driven through them and into the body. Additionally they end up covered with thickened marine epoxy. Barring extreme force they aren't going to break.
