Spent the past weekend in Oregon chasing toms with my archery gear. Had this one locked in and coming to the dekes and when I drew the bullhead tipped arrow fell off the rest and got all jammed up. The bird didn't like that and walked off but hung out in the area.

After about 20 minutes of trying to coax him in, he wasn't going to do it so I switched to a regular arrow and broadhead. Took him at 20 yards out and zipped one into his vitals. He ran 20 yards and piled up dead.

    19.8lbs, 8 3/4" beard, 5/8" spurs. Good 2 year old.

Very good Dan..nice work making it happen after the mishap. I've had my arrows fall off the rest when toms came walking by...frustrating to say the least when you waited so long for the opportunity. Looks like you made the best of a potentially bad outcome. Nice bird and nice picture.

    Dan,

You seem to have this game down pat... You should write a book!

Nice adjustment to a changing scenario. When the plan doesn't quite come together, change the plan.

Dan - how many states will you typically hunt in the spring?

I'll never have turkeys down pat, they're turkeys.:l

I get lucky and things come together every once in a while.

Thanks. Typically just hunt in California and Oregon. Hoping to extend that someday. I just love hunting them.
