Since Mottled, BB and Fulvous are non-migratory locals, why are they not being taken ?

Water levels. No mottled ducks being seen in the Everglades few being harvested on okeechobee. The whistlers are staying on private lands.

    It's a bad year.

Very true. I live in Okeechobee and have been hunting the lake for 30 years. It is pretty bad right now. My dad's had about 200 Blackbellies, 30 mottles, 1 Drake widgeon, and 1 greenhead that come to his backyard daily to eat scratch feed he puts out. The grandkids want to sniper them with a pellet gun but grandpa forbids it.

Several milesTo the southeast of my dad there is a dairy farm they frequent (not far from waterfowlfool's house). Several miles to the northwest of my dad there is an STA (closed to hunting of course) that they frequent as well.

The school I was assistant principal at 2 years ago has a stormwater pond that has a few hundred blackbellies on it. At one time there was a pair of Egyptian geese with them. When I was on bus duty they would land inside the bus loop and eat acorns off the ground.
