I have an old oxbow lake here in KC area that I have been working on a few years. This winter/spring I cleared a large area of the willow thickets. This lake has no water control- I am at the mercy of nature. Its pretty low right now, inches to knee deep but it does occasionally get to chest deep.

My question is this; is wild celery or rice a good option? I tried millet last year but it was choked out by weeds. I'm thinking an aquatic plant wouldn't have the weed issue. Is it too late to plant rice ( I read spring planting)
