Political pressure leading to wetland drainage in North Dakota

    There's cause for concern in North Dakota, where old survey maps are being used to determine wetland acres in place of more current information. As a result, more drain tile is going in the ground, threatening wetland-dependent wildlife, damaging water quality and forcing more water to downstream neighbors.

    They've been burning the slews and putting in drain tile every fall since 2012 in and around Ramsey Co NoDak. All potholes - not much in rivers - w/ Devils Lake to the SW.
