My power trim on my 1999 Mercury 50hp will go all the way up, and will not come down. After many clicks down it might kick in, but will only come half way down, that is far as it will go. There is a release somewhere that I can't find that will let the motor down. Bad relays? I can hear the clicking. Any ideas? Thanks Kenny

I thought sure someone else has had this problem. Hope to get it back in the water soon. Thanks Kenny

Does the motor on the trim pump run but it does not go down? Or do the relays just click and nothing else happens?

It continues to run, but is hung at half way down. It will go right up- and only come down half way. No mechanics close by. I'm guessing relays. Thanks Fireduck. ( Kenny)

Ok, if motor runs but it don't go down then it is not a relay. Relay just activates the motor. First check the fluid, then make sure there is no binding in the tilt tube area. Also does the motor when running down make a different sound when it stops going down? Post your model number and ser# so I can look at the right motor

Yes Sir it makes a different noise when it tries to go down! Almost like a grinding noise- not the normal power trim noise. I will look for screw when I get home. Thanks for your help!!! Kenny
