Widgeon, I would like to build off your first comment..cardboard boxes. I just finished making a target made of cardboard boxes. I found a source that was getting rid of the same size box on a very regular bases. I saved them for several months and then put them on a used pallet in the yard took some tie-down straps and compressed the cardboard. The target works GREAT!! Total cost about $12 to replace the tie-downs I used on the target. Pros... target will last for a good while, nice appearance, arrows come out with easy, can be built to your desired height. Cons... can take a bit of time to collect and store the cardboard, and when finished not very mobile.
