Thanks for the link. I liked the article, even though the topic is tragic.

There are all kinds of critters in trouble on the delta.

sure has changed over the years.. I remember in the early 80's fishing bass tournaments... you could throw a crank bait anywhere without weeds, and 12 lbs would win lots of tournaments and 15 lbs was a great limit.. Then middle late 80's weed growth started and has not stopped since, crazy amount of weeds out there now days hard to toss cranks, lots of weedless type bait for sure.. BUT you need 25 plus lbs to win and 30 to 35 lbs is common!!

yep...and they are working hard on weeds control ......spraying poison can't be good, but the weeds growth is out of control IMO..I get monthly update reports on what they are doing out there, areas and such of what they are spraying....

    This is this week for.....
    Submersed Aquatic Vegetation Control Program

    Brazilian Waterweed (Egeria densa),

    Curly-leaf Pondweed (Potamogeton crispus),
    Eurasian Watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum),
    Fanwort (Cabomba caroliniana), and
    Coontail (Ceratophyllum demersum)

Excellent article, and as previously stated, tragic outcome.
There's really no turning back the "progress" we believe we are making.
Jerrys tunnels will exascerbate the decline of all species.

I wish you could have seen the delta 25/30 years ago...mostly all tullies, very few weeds. I think the drought in the late 70's started the weed growth and it exploded in the early middle 80's. That's when the fishing really started to explode. Weeds gave the fish places to hide from the stripers, sea lions and maybe alligators who knows whats out there... It really amazes me to have seen the changes over the years. Pretty amazing place for sure !!! Back in the 90's, they use to have 7 fish tournament limits.. 37 lbs for us..no big fish, culling 5's pretty cool..
