I run a 15 pitch prop on my Merc 50hp 2 stroke and I'm going pick up a stainless prop. I've heard I need to drop down 1 size to a 14p. Any thoughts or advise?

If you are happy with the performance of your present prop, then go with a replacement of the same specs. Problem is; most SS props will not match your present aluminum prop exactly. They will almost certainly be different in rake, cup, diameter, number of blades, blade shape, etc.....i.e. pitch is just one variable.
I would try to match the new prop to the old with as many of those variables as possible, then go from there. Playing with props is never that simple; it requires a certain amount of experimentation. Good luck.
