My brother and I put up a ladder stand this weekend on our lease. It was my first one and I learned some things I'd like to pass on to those that may do this in the future.

    1) Two people ain't enough.
    2) Put it together at home.
    3) Use a magnifying glass to read the directions.
    4) Take a climbing stand or a ladder with you.
    5) Take a pole saw with you.
    6) Be careful!!!!!

    It was an experience!!

If you can't get a ladder stand up two people, something is wrong.

    I agree.
If you can't get a ladder stand up with two guys. Don't attemp to hang a tree stand. Self climbing or stick stand. That's just scary.

Oh, we got it up, but another set of hands would have been nice, and safer.

It was a learning experience. :)

I have set up more than one ladder stand where it came in mighty handy having three people there, especially in tight spots.

That said, for a typical store bought one, two should be able to do most of them.

    Maybe a couple!

All I know is, it's a lonely feeling when the stand and the tree start getting farther apart!

LOL... that would have been a great video! :l

I'll agree that once a stand gets over 12' or so, or becomes a double wide stand, that third set of hands or at least an extra long pole does come in handy.

It really is a lot easier if you read the instructions BEFORE you attempt the feat, though. :yes
