Any of you guys have any tips for hunting after a good rain? I.e. fields, pastures, in a bottom, on a ridge top... We have the youth hunt tomorrow and it looks like rain tonight but then supposed to clear up by morning. Can't decide on where to go.

    Thanks

As always, try to roost a bird tonight.

Hunt close to them in the am. They may fly down late. Probably will go to fields in the am right off the roost if the woods are quiet and the fields are short.

If the fields are long and wet they may avoid them in the am.

Get in a ground blind(ha .. it'll be dryer) in the middle of the field if it's raining hard, especially a field they frequent for feeding. Heavy rains drive them out of the woods because of hearing and predation.

Thanks for the tips. We set up along a fence line separating a corn field and a pasture. He was roosted by himself about 150 yards from us. He flew down to the pasture and came straight to us. 24lbs, 1 in spurs, 10.5 in. beard. 20170415_061427.jpg
