Your hunting snows out of a layout boat? And those repurposed mags look real good.
If I had layout boats, I would be surrounded by snow goose floaters instead of socks.
Yes, I have a 12' layout boat along with a refuge runner that is towed behind the 12' boat. With these two rigs, I can roughly put out 75 decoys. When buddies join in with their layouts, the decoy # can grow to 100-200.
The rig with just the decoys I can haul:
Think this pic was with 1 or 2 other layout boats and their decoys:
If the birds aren't flying, the Coleman stove comes in handy
Not a lot of people hunt like that, do they decoy pretty well to seeing something a little different?? Looks like a good time!
We layout hunt for puddles but never thought about it for snows. Now I need to build a floater spread.
I'd love to hunt that way, especially on very warm days, near the end of the migration, or late evening. Add in some soft, romantic serenades from the ecaller.......
I think they’ll work great, congrats in the ingenuity. I have painted some junk plastic decoys black with a white bill and they draw more ducks than coots.
Anyone use the "Flocka Flickas" from Mojo for motion in the spread? Thought maybe a few of those on the water through the spread might help like snows stretching their wings, like they like to do? .....Or are the just a waist of money?
Waste of money. You wanna attract snows? ........WHITE.
If you can find some foam decoys such as Herters 81s you are set.
