Red sky custom calls makes a very nice call for an affordable price, as does Basin calls.

RedBone - Buy one and it will last a number of lifetimes.
Instructional CD is very thorough and you will not outgrow the potential in a RedBone.
Nathan' introduction of the big bore, brass gutted Speck call, jumped the evolution of them.

I second what California Flyway stated. Nathan gives very detailed suggestions to operate a call. RedBone is the choice for me. Realism at it's finest.

I will throw another call in to the hat. A Barbellie from RNT. I have both Riceland and Basin calls like them a lot, but I feel the RNT call might have more range to it. Redbones are great , but not sure their any better than either Riceland or RNT.

I would be curious to know how many call makers copied Nathan's Red Bone, brass gut, tone board, Speck call design?
