Thanks for breathing some reality and reason into this discussion. "Color" fetish threads rarely operate on those premises.

Insinuating you need a spaniel or a Boykin for a pheasant runner is more like Star Trek reality lol

Yeah, 'cause spaniels are bred for working holodeck cover, right? You may need a reality check on which gundogs recover runners as a matter of course.

Couple years ago I spent two weeks in South Dakota with 24 different dogs and breeds. The retrievers were superior game finding dogs on runners in uncontrolled wild bird conditions. Rotated dogs over 6 different hunters and I often followed up behind with my person dog to find lost/wounded birds. Not a pen raised drive just the National Grasslands Park.

Emma (HRCH UH CH UR01 Go West Mamma's Last Nerve CGC RN RATI) had has 2 litters with GRHRCH UH Wa****a's One Hot Tamale MH MNH. the first litter had 4 and there were 1 dark yellow and 3 fox red. We kept the Fox Red female. The next litter had 7. 4 fox red and 3 medium yellows. I didn't breed for fox red's, I bred because I wanted another yellow and the 2 males I was looking at were both fox red.

This is my pup, Macey, at 6 months. Her parents are proven hunters (In the field and in trails), that was the most important part for me.

MDCanvasback's pup Macey is out of our 2014 litter (9 pups). Sire of the litter is a HR Champion and Master Hunter and dam is sired by FC AFC Pin Oaks Texas Rex. Both parents are gun dogs. The dam has more than 2,000 retrieves to her credit. All pups have health clearances (hips, elbows, eyes, CNM, EIS). We have two planned fox red litters in 2015.

Fox Red Yella Labs don't do worth a crap in Hunt Tests either.
Over 60 ribbons in the display case.
