I thought I read somewhere that a lot of guys take the factory manual tilt off outboards after they add an aftermarket power trim like the cmc unit. Basically letting the motor swing freely, enabling them to pop over logs and the motor will slide over the log but still fall back in to place once clear. Do any of you guys set your motors up this way? How tough is it to use reverse?

All you would have to do is remove the spring that holds the locking lever down inplace.
Reverse SUCKS when the motor can tilt freely.:yes

Callinfowl is right about the reverse. I have a CMC unit on my 15' Boston Whaler and a Panther Marine 55 on my 648 War Eagle. I prefer the Panther Marine, it is lighter and more compact, works great.
