Guys I am pulling the trigger on the RNT SB. I have used double reeds for years and want to move into the single reed calls. After much research it appears that the SB is a good intro single reed and all around good "meat" call. What I dont know about it whether to go with Acrylic or Wood? We hunt half open lakes and half in deep coves. If I go with wood then what kind? Bocote? Granadillo?

Also, East TN does not have anywhere to test calls that I know of. Maybe Bass Pro.

Try one if you can. Or just find one that appeals to your eye.

Mack's has a Signature Series Cocobolo/Ivory Acrylic. Is that what you mean? RNT doesn't have Cocobolo available. Does wood require special care?

Personaly I'd call the shop and get the combo you want.
Wood will swell and **** k due to moisture and temps hence why I only like a barrel in wood. Wood will need to be dried after hunts meaning leave the call on the lanyard and bring indoors. Hang the lanyard up and allow the normal air to flow through the call. Don't stand a call up as air can't pass through it.
