Has anybody ever tried golf or tennis grip tape on their rod handles to keep for slipping in their hands?

I have used athletic tape, back when I thought I was an athlete. Had lots of it around, so I used it. I am sure your idea would work fine.

Either should work fine. Being from Minnesota we have hockey stick tape everywhere and I've used it on everything from axe handles to dog sled handlebars. Would work on a fishing rod as well.

Thanks guys. I checked out Bass Pro since they had them before I came here and those got bad reviews.
