    Ducks Unlimited is hosting a fun day for boys and girls ages 2-15 on June 12th. The event is the 10th anniversary of the Greenwings "Youth in the Outdoors" and will include shooting, archery, climbing walls, obstacle courses and more.

    From a Ducks Unlimited press release:

    There will be carnival type games, miniature train, hay rides, and inflatables for the younger kids.

    There will be prizes, raffles, live auction and pizza for the kids and takes place at the Taylor Farm in Shannon.

    This entire event is sponsored by local businesses and institutions. Admission is $10 which gives your child a membership into the Greenwing program of Ducks Unlimited and goes entirely to DU for wetlands restoration. Your child will receive a bimonthly magazine and access to the Greenwings website to learn more about wetland conservation, aquatic environments, birds, fish, amphibians, animals and more.

    Our teacher parents love the science part of Greenwings taught in fun and interesting ways. To learn more log onto www.greenwing.org.

    This event is being hosted by the DU Greenwing Committee and our Corporate Sponsors, Georgia Department of Natural Resources Enforcement Personnel, and the Floyd County.

    The DNR and Sheriff?s Department Deputies will be on hand to teach the participants safety and stewardship concerning hunting, guns, archery and the outdoors.

Advanced Ticket purchase is requested but tickets can be purchased @ gate. The gates open for registration at 9:00am and the events start promptly at 9:30.

    Adults accompanying registered children enter free of charge with only a donation of $5.00 requested for adult lunches.

    Directions: From Bypass go N. on Hwy 53 towards Calhoun approx. 7 miles to Shannon traffic light. Make a left onto Burlington Dr and then first right onto Minshew Rd. Pass the park and stay left on Minshew go over the hill and make a right into Taylor Farm at bottom of hill. Signs will clearly mark directions from Hwy. 53.
