For any and all who might be interested, there will be a meeting at the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge (SPBNWR) headquarters on September 21 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. There have recently been several thousand acres of habitat restored that have been turned over to the SPBNWR. Currently, all of these areas are closed to hunting pending further review. Anyone who lives in the area who supports waterfowl hunting should attend this meeting to make our voices heard.

They recently tried to remove two weeks of the local nwr duck season. After the brochures were printed with no public input, the local sportsman groups went ballistic. We sent a lot to Zinke asking for the heads of the federal employees.

The nwr relented and changed back to the previous years season.

If you have any kind of sportsman groups locally organize a campaign and hit them hard. Post something up here and I'm sure I can get several to dozens of letters written from people in Florida.

I attended last years. I wonder how many ideas and plans where implemented from that meeting?

Thanks for posting this up. Saw the email she sent yesterday. Was a great turnout last year. Hopefully another good turnout this year. Mark Hennelly from CWA hopes to make it again this year. It's really important to get the new lands open asap. Guaranteed water and close to large population centers. The areas will get use for sure.

Hope we can get as many people from CWA, DU, etc. to attend. Agreed that we need to try to get the new lands open ASAP as the longer it takes the less likelihood it will ever open up.

I just read on the refuge website that the meeting was held TODAY at 6:30 PM. I guess the meeting this Thursday is off. I missed it because I had it scheduled for the 21st. Lame.

Here is the email that I received about it
    All,
Someone pointed out today that the San Pablo website stated that our hunt meeting was tonight (Sept 16) from 6:30 - 8. This was a mistake on my part because we had the Don Edwards hunt meeting today.

So I just want to confirm that the San Pablo hunt meeting is Thursday, Sept 21 from 6:30 - 8pm. The website should get corrected in a little while.

I'm sorry for the confusion (I need to be more careful when updating both websites at the same time!).
