NOTHING flying on the upper Potomac.
Well, I shot another deer...thought I hit it hard, it's bleeding like a stuck pig....I trailed the blood into the woods...eventually found the deer hiding next to an old junk car...and it took off like a scalded dog. So I'm going to have a beer and watch the KY-Louisville game, then go out and try to find it. Hope it stiffens up and cooperates. Looks like another late nite for chronically sleep-deprived Walnut...
They were flying and running here.
Started the day on the Little Choptank with a brace of geese....
Even collected another band. (This is the third band we've taken in the past 8 days)
Then it was back to Centreville to trim another fat Doe out of a herd of 10 that came down through the woods.
.....all in all, it was an exceptional day.
I'm going with you next time!!!
Did you find it?
Well, I eventually found my deer. I had to slit its throat. I started dragging it out of the woods, and it kicked the crap out of me, so I had to let it lay there for a while before dragging it again. Now it's gutted and hanging from a tree next to the driveway.
All in all, I guess life's pretty good.
Now thats hard core.
Where's the "blackpowder backup"?
The "blackpowder backup" was leaning against the wall in the kitchen. I expected to find that deer dead as a stone. Sometimes a deer is just tough. I couldn't have survived a hit like that.
Muddyduck, congrats on the hunt.
The other david, I hope it gets better.
Walnut. note to self. Always bring weapon when tracking deer.
I was on the choptank too in the am tons of geese and lots of divers. only a hand full of buffleheads and a few of this and that. but ole' eagle eye went home empty handed.
