Moose have you had a chance to try the call??
Ordered the call last week and I'm still waiting to get it Will let you know when I get it
I am looking for a decent diver call myself, but the Longtail call is not at all similar to most divers from my understanding.
I have 2 calls, bought about 15 years ago. I used them for a season and decided they added little to attracting ducks. Oldsquaws just don't react to calls like puddlers do.
What worked much better was adding movement to the spread. For ducks at distance, flags work well and once closer the spinner in the decoy set brings them in for at least a pass by if not a landing.
Don't waste your money on a diver call. Cans, redheads, ringers, bills and even hen buffleheads can all easily be imitated with a mallard call with a little practice. The advantages are in using a call you are already familiar with and less calls on the lanyard.
Thanks ,going to give it a try
I agree but the big divers (cans and redheads) really like a mallard hen call that sounds like a mallard hen.
I have noticed that with cans.
Big time !
