The way this year has been, you should take what you can get.

I voted "I dont care", but I dont care when its a good year. Its up to the person in charge.

I didn't vote, because in my opinion, 15 - 20 is still a "big" group. Not saying I won't occasionally call a shot in one that size if theres a blindful, but I prefer groups of 1 - 6. Anything over two dozen will ordinarily get a pass unless there are extenuating circumstances; end of the season, just sat for 4 hours in 18 degree temperatures without a shot, etc. There have been several days when I've had hundreds of birds in the decoys all day and never fired a shot for this very reason, but getting them to finish is 75% of the fun anyway.

We try to keep shooting at groups over 12 to a minimum. No need to educate large groups. I agree w/ CC on possible exceptions.

If there are birds in the decoys they get shot, I dont care how many others are around.

guess the sad part is, if you dont shoot at the large groups, guaranteed someone the next field over is going to. I'm doing whatever the guys in the black hoodies are going to do.

Ditto what muskrat25 said! On the youth day/hunt this year, we allowed 50 to 75 birds to land in the decoys on 2 occasions. My kids talk about how loud the birds were flying over the pit. Havent heard them complain about not shooting into them when I/we explained why we dont shoot into large groups.

But I have watched large groups get up and fly to another spread and get sky busted!:scratch
