    What size shot do you normally use for upland birds?

    I usually use 6 for pheasants, and sometimes 4 in the late season.

    For doves, I like 7.5, #8 works for me with quail.

    6's for pheasants
    7 1/2's for grouse and woodcock

    6's for most pheasants, 7 1/2 for grouse and chuckars, 4's for late season pheasants or when steel is required ( Wa law for wetlands)

    #7.5 for doves and sharptails
    #9 for quail, ruffs and skeet targets.

    7 1/2's for pheasant...

    9's for grouse and woodcock...

    steel 6's for pheasant when I have to use steel...

    7 1/2 or 8 for dove.
