Used to use 8's for dove now I use 7-1/2 for just about everything including clays and crows. The only problem I have is that I have to use steel to hunt phesant in the only area thats worth pheasant hunting (WMA) around here. So in this case I use 6's and 4's for phesant.

I use 6's for early pheasants,,, 4's later in the season

7 1/2's backed up by 6's in the second barrel for ruff's

    7 1/2's for woodcock

When I have to use nontoxic for pheasants I switch to Hevishot and shoot 5's and 6's out of my semi

7 1/2 for first shot and 6's for second ( 20g SXS ) for Pheasant, Woodcock, and Grouse. Shots here are very close and no need for bigger loads.
