Author: Katherine Ashe A great series of 4 books chronicling the life of Simon de Montfort (1200's). These are historical fiction--events are fact but characters are fictionalized out of necessity. Well researched with a lot of end notes on why the author characterized the principles as she did. Our government owes quite a bit to Simon, and he was by all accounts a hell of a man. I've wondered how he became so forgotten to those of us who most benefited from his life. Great read.
