Ugly Drum Smokers are the best I've ever found for temperature control. Really don't understand why someone doesn't make this design commercially. Once you find the barrel source, everything else is simple.

They do; Weber Smoky Mountain has been around a long time. Not a drum but same idea. You can also buy kits to build a uds.
I agree though, they do work well.

I checked out the advertisement for Kalamazoo grills here on the refuge . They have a smoker coming out , it's stainless on wheels , I could only imagine what that would cost .............

Get a Lynx Professional Sonoma Smoker. This is not the cheapest by any stretch of the imagination but, it will last a lifetime, look great, total temp control, and wireless (Android or IOS). With this smoker you will be able to smoke like a pro.

I do summer sausage, snack sticks, and jerky as well as the usual suspects on my pellet smoker.

Just recently purchased a Masterbuilt based on a friends recommendation. Didn't see one with a glass door. Wish I had gotten it. Now what is a good source for recipes?

If you are skillish, build your own with a propane burner.
Lots of good plans on SmokingMeatForums.com
I bought my burner from a good old boy in Alabama who lists smoker parts on that site. Could not be happier.
I built mine using a rolling restaurant tray rack as a frame.

When I grow up I want one of these bad boys!! I have the Masterbuilt 40" with the glass door. I can pass on the glass door, removing the crud that gets stuck to it is a pain. Love the remote control. I also have 2 BGE's and a Large Kamado. They are nice but limited as you can't hang stuff. But at 57 yrs old I still have time to grow up,lol.
