Nice wish we could use footholds around here. Way to many stray dogs though.
The use of footholds in NY is legal. I got a lot of stray dogs here and if I catch them I just let them go, no harm done.
Here is my youtube channel with videos for anyone interested
how do you like that style of dog proof coon trap?
Love them. Lil Griz are the way to go. Duke pretty much made an exact copy of the lil griz that is about $12 cheaper. May switch to those.
I know there legal I just hate catching dogs. With the fur market better I may start after more fox and coyotes. Been sticking to muskrat and beaver for awhile. Farms have lots of beaver trouble around here.
I have caught several coon, a few coyotes, bobcat and other odd/ ends. Skunks seem to work well for yotes, bury skunk with tail sticking out(yep it stinks), and I set 2 traps around it.
We are getting lots of fox, I haven't caught any of them yet, maybe this year.
Getting a lot of fox is a great sign because that shows the coyotes are out of the area. Few years ago on these properties my coyote to fox ratio was 4:1. Now its 3:1 fox to coyote. Loaded up with fox.
Holler at me or check out my youtube channel if y'all have any questions.
Great pics. Looks like you had a good season...
Nice! Sweet pics,, fur looks good too.
Those coon cuffs are the bomb,, I use them in old barns and along creeks for edge sets.
What are ya'alls favorite bait for the dog-proof coon traps? little marshmellows and anise oil worked OK for me last fall. Just trying to help out my turkeys by thinning out some 'coons.
