What is your price range? The Riceland poly spec that has been mentioned repeatedly is a great call on a budget, but it is way more than say, a $30 Haydel. I think I bought my first Riceland poly for $65 but they are more now. That little sucker can make plenty of specky noises. Here is the other important tidbit, they are ez to blow.

I'm also interested in the Riceland 3/4 guts acrylic at $180.00??!! But, they say it's super easy to call, and I gotta admit the spec call is tough for me. Not sure it's $180.00 worth of easy though.

I recommend trying several calls and makers. Find the call that fits your style. The calls mentioned are great calls and I would use them. I've been doing this awhile and have used many different styles and brands. Currently I like my RNT Barbelly and Hedge Riceland as my goto calls. With that said I have others that I could just as easily bring and have success with those also. It comes down to what you are comfortable with and willing to spend.

I had no idea that call existed. In my previous statement about Haydels being tough to blow, I was referring to the XLS-83. That was my primary speck call for 20 years, but its probably not the best choice for beginners anymore. I called in a ton of snows with that call, too, and still keep one on my lanyard sole for that purpose.

It will also work to get Tom turkeys worked up on an early spring morning.
