Frankly i did not understand this, what make it PITA? a consol ot a tiller?
Currently i have a tiller with side controls.

the Ezy glide stick is more than $300. When i can afford it, i do not want to afford thing which i do not know if i like it or not

I purchased a rotary mechanism with cable of ebay for $40
I can fabricate a swing away steering console to save room one like this http://www.ganatswingaway.com.au/
Can be easily made out of computer monitor swing arm which i have in my garage

So, my question is, does it worth hassle to do it on a 1448 tracker or just stay with the tiller? The question for ppl who tried both in hunting situations.

I’ve never had both, tiller, AND remote steering cables on a motor. On my console boat, if you were to have put a tiller handle on it, the steering cables attached to the motor would make it harder to steer, due to the resistance, when using the tiller. Possibly I’m having reading comp issues of what it is you are wanting to do(?). Your reply clarified it more for me. I was imagining more of a remote steering wheel type setup.

I had a great deal on a new Suzuki motor, but it was a remote. But my boat did not have a consol, so, i attached the shifter box to the gunwale and my friend machinist made a nice tiller handle to steer the boat. So, with my left hand i choose the direction and my right i choose the speed.

Now i think maybe it is a good idea to make a steering console http://www.ganatswingaway.com.au/

BTW, you cannot have both. If you have remote steering there in NO WAY you will be able to use tiller without disconnecting the steering cable.

Ah, Copy all. I was under the impression "having both" was your goal.

On a 1448 it'd be stick or tiller for me; just too small for a console.

I'm going to install it on Tues and check it out on Wed.
I'll report the outcome with pictures.

Nice job. Did you happen to install a foot-print gas pedal to go with it?
