Because, If you use 7 1/2 shot then someone will say you should use TSS 9.
Toting a small bored, light shotgun turkey hunting is an addictive practice. I highly recommend it! Just know what your limitations are and stay within them, for the noble turkey's sake.
That is what one should do - if using lead. It will actually increase your bonafide range, since pellet count is the first limitation when using a .410.
But it is possible to achieve a bonafide 40 yd .410 - you just have to go with TSS in 9s or 9-1/2 and load your own shells.
Here are some of my 28 ga and .410 birds.
Here's another one from my Saturday hunt.
28 ga VA bird from this past Saturday
Lost the shell in the snow today, but here is another.
Over the last few years I've really gotten into chasing turkey. I'd say it's about my favorite type of hunt. I try to set new goals for each season nothing crazy but something simple like hunt another state or take a bird on public land. I can see an investment in a couple new gauges in my future. Great pictures, more fuel for the fire. I'm ready for spring already!!!
my son shoots an SA-20 with Magnum Blends and can "dot their eyes" with it
