    I've only hunted Easterns, and I'd imagine different species, and even different parts of the country differ due to dates of season vs. hatch. That said, often it's very obvious, but then I've seen mature birds with a VERY weak gobble and I've seen jakes that could rock the woods like a 25 pound 4-year-old gobbler. For those reasons, I don't trust a gobble. If I hear a gobble, I'm hunting the bird until he shows me what he is.
