And on what basis can you support the statement that Canon outperforms Nikon on BIF shots? Because most birders shoot Canon? :l

Nikon has better ISO performance and faster Autofocus. The problem is you need to spend $5,000 for a 400mm Nikon lens. Hence the reason most birders shoot Canon...because its cheap.

You want to see some excellent nature work by a Nikon photographer? Check out Troy Lim. Young guy, shoots Nikon, published and has a lot of talent.

    like ford vs chevy...

i think canon has the advantage in more glass selection for the mid range stuff..

400, 500 and 600's are all in the same range now...

the new 200-400 canon will be priced with the nikon 200-400...

im too far invested in canon to switch but would love to try out a nice nikon setup...

canons 400 f5.6 is the best bird in flight lens for the money... IMO...

Most of us Nikon guys on here are not Pro's like some of the Canon guy that post on here. You really can't compare. To really see what one is better you need to get two Pro's one that shoots Canon and one that shoots Nikon to really tell what is better.

This has nothing to do with Photoshop expertise whatsoever. I'm looking for CA, IQ and other technical flaws in glass. Even Photoshop can't hide those! I don't care how good you are at postprocessing. If the flaws are there and they are I will see them and point them out.

    THIS IS NOT A CONTEST!

My feelings exactly! I have many friends in this business who are professionals who shoot Nikon. I have shot an awesome Nikon setup as wel (D3X and the 200-400)l was very impressed!

One thing is that, "I have never heard a Nikon PROFESSIONAL call Canon CHEAP!" And that's a fact!

In fact, I have not knocked Nikon Products in any way! In fact I hope that the new Canon 200-400 can even get close to Nikon's similar model in IQ! That's one lens I would be proud to own.

The whole point of this comparison is to show that both Nikon and Canon build quality products!
