Anyone know of a good taxidermist in the Gainesville area? I shot a mature drake Woodie that I want to hang on my wall. I found a guy in High Springs, FL that charges around $180 and does a good job. Does this sound resonable? I have never had a duck mounted before. Any Information would be greatly appreciated.

How would you know getem?

Anyway, the price sounds about in line with a guy I am using in Jacksonville.

There was a place north of Gainesville in Starke called PK Whiskers (or something like that). Not sure if it is still in business, but you can look it up on yellowpages.com. I think it was a lady taxidermist too.

Also, there are a couple of sponsors on this site that do taxidermy.

don't know anyone good at anything in the g-ville area, but around here duck prices range from $125-$225 for really good work.

Tony Gilyard is good. :) I have a couple of birds that he did for me. First class work! I think they were about $150 each.

yup, go to tony. i got a banded florida mallard back from last year and its beautiful! i know lots of people that use him and never heard a complaint. i think a sitting mount is $150 and a flying is $170, something like that. got mine back in about 4 months.

EDIT - just noticed Dukes post and one correction. hawthorne is NORTH of gainesville on 301, not south. he is about 20 min outside of gville. take waldo road to waldo and hang a left on 301 and its a few minutes down the road. almost to lochloosa.
