I think we had a good early season bubba.

Couple of good goose hunts, you shot a cool band, I shot a band, and between us we shot a pile of teal in two weeks.

I'll take it all day long.

I couldn't have had a better Sept. All in all.

I had Scotty K. And my son along for a great goose hunt, Scotty killed a band...

I had several fun goose hunts and shot a pile of teal with great buddies.

    Life is good!

Here's a couple... I'll have to dig for more.

This one was a pretty fun day. I shot a limit of Teal in the AM, then "ducked" out of work for a quick goose hunt ont he 15th.

The field had already been hunted 3 or 4 days, and my expecations weren't high. It was a rainy day, so I was kind of kicking myself that I couldn't get there before 3ish. When I pulled into the farm I needed to BS with the landowner for a bit as he was in the shop working on a bean head. About 5 minutes in I hear what sounds like a good bunch of geese hit the field, which kind of added insult to injury.

I pulled the truck around to the gate, and sure as heck there were 60 already in there. Little did I know that the farmer had just cut hay adjacent to the silage...on a rainy day they obviously loved it.

I finished grassing the blind by the sheds, strapped two bags of dekes to the back rack, and ran them out with the four wheeler...

In "pit crew" fashion i got set up and took the four wheeler back, and wasn't quite to the blind when I heard a goose coming. I scrambled in, covered up, threw one shell in the gun and killed him.

    Then silence for an hour.

Finally a pair came, but lit just wide on the next ridge top.

After 15 minutes or so they started FREAKING out. Honking and making aggressive sounds that I've never heard. I poked my head up, and there was a coyote standing between them...

He finally ran them off, and started to go back the way he'd came.

I grabbed the call and tried to mimic what the live birds had been doing... He spun on a dime.

He made his way all "casual" along the lip of the little ridge I was on, like he was just going to trot by the "geese" int he field with no ill intent.

In a flash he spun and pounced on an Avian X FFD. He knew INSTANTLY that he was screwed. He tucked tail and ran right to me,

I shot him in the noggin at about 10 yards. Cartwheeled him...

All I could do was laugh.

Not a bad way to wrap up the year!
