    Just to clarify...

To do Migratory Bird Taxidermy in the State of TX FOR PROFIT,

You must obtain a Federal Taxidermy Permit.

If this is only a hobby, and you are only doing your own birds and not accepting payment from clients, or holding their birds, then you DO NOT need a permit.

Also along these lines.... I am assuming we are all avid hunters and know the laws. Don't show up with something illegal that morning...like an egret, or a grackle, or god forbid a Bluegay or Cardinal.... I will be forced to ask you to leave it in your vehichle where it will surely spoil.

On a lighter note... since this will not be taking place at the state park like I had originally planned, I doubt we have to worry about any of that... except.. I'll still ask you to leave a cardinal in the truck... SO don't bring anything of the likes.

Anyhow.. Like I said... I think I'd best call this the limit on people attending. I'm still waiting on a confirmation from Woodiesmacker... but other than him, if you've not already made a reservation with me, then I'll try and do this again in the spring. I wish I could take more, but I really don't want us to all be up in each other business while we're trying to work.. so a smaller group will be best.

Anyhow.. I look forward to seeing all ya'll!
    Jon

Jon....this is a great thing you are doing and will be lots of fun...it was very rewarding for me...

We started ours at around 7 in the morning and went until about 10 at night....one problem was we mounted 15 birds in my three car garage! All 15 were ready to be blow-dryed at the same time, my circuit breaker kept going out...so...took a while to dry them birds!

Most are still doing taxidermy and I couldn't be happier...here is the thread of all the results we had (notice Wildthings talking about a Texas seminar!)-

HAVE FUN! Wish I could be there, I love seeing first timers unravel the mystery of Taxidermy...

    Woodiesmacker...

Go to Wal-Mart and get the following if you don't have them

a good pair of small quailty scissors.. about the size of the palm of your hand or a little larger
    Large ball of knitting/Kite String....
    Masking Tape
    Electrical Tape
    Dawn dishwashing..

and then bring the other items that you already have.

The rest of the things on the list are things that you will evenentually need if you plan to do this, but there is no sense in going out and buying it all just for this as you will only be needing a very small portion of it.

I will make up a kit for you containing the other items on the list for lets say $5 and call it even.

As far as Standing or Flying... we will learn in the class how to make that decision.

Let me know if this will work for you!

hey Jon, the bird i have right now is a drake gadwall and thats all i got. it seems to have 2 shots in the head that arent to bad you can just tell from the blood there and also it looks like there are some feathers missing on the neck and breast area but not to many, does that seem good enough quality for me to mount? thanks again for doing this.
