Kevin just has to go by his moto doesn't he!!
Went out this mornin and took two Greenheads off of the beaver pond, cleaned them up and had em for lunch.
Took my lil feller out tonight and went out to the Mead area, some guy was by kevins blind so we set up by the sky busters spot.
One short of filling up, a woodcock, and then Star found me a cripple, my first pintail and I never and to fire a shot.
Yea, Kevin is fun to hunt with, did'nt complain a bit when I bopped him on the knoggin with the push pole, me thinks he soaked me on purpose with the half push pole when he was using it as a paddle when it broke
Boy, I am telling ya, if you guys don't use a dog you should. My Golden Retriever has made more hard retrieves this year, awsome nose. Can't wait to see how her pups turn out if the breeding goes well in Dec.
Have always used a dog since I had to retrieve one for myself, man that water was cold for an eider too!! That was 20 something years ago and havent looked back since Great to hear dog is doing well, who are you breeding her to?
Websires Right Off The Scales (Quake)MH, qualified for thr Grand Nationals last year I think it was. Star(JH) is out of baumy's Bailey, an awsome bloodline on Both sides.
My dad owns Quake, this will be both dogs first breeding.
Spent the day hunting in the Mead area with WisWoody,Rd1, and Flowageboy, took 7 Mallards, a bluebill, a woody, and a buffalohead. Lots of fun and more Kabobs ummmmmm.
Just got home from N. Dakota. Man what a trip. Duck numbers were down along with not a lot of water in places. But still was some of the best hunting I have had. Limited out the second day with 3 guys and 18 birds in less than an hour The migraition has yet to start from what I have seen. mostly local ducks and no geese to speek of. The boys going next week might hit it in the sweet spot and really load up!
Just got back tonight. Potholes were froze up and had to break ice to get to our favorite spots. Bird numbers are down, at least in the areas that we were at. Geese were just starting to drop in when we left.
What a nice trip, we ate duck, duck, and more duck. Ralph Nestor cooked duck in ways that you never got tired of eating it. We had a great time with great people and shot plenty of birds. We have had better years but how can ya complaine when you have to stop shooting early cause you have your limit. Plenty of time for early cocktails, good food, and great company.
Dogs got a work out, you have to give them credit, it never got above 20-30 degree's on the water and they kept going and going. Ralphs boyz made some incredable marks and retrieved a lot of birds, Star did an awsome job.
Met with Flowageboy and WisWoody, last I herd they found the motherload and were heading out this morning to fill another daily limit. Something about Swans with neck Collars that they were chasing, anyway, they were doing great.
Never hit the crablegs at the casino, had to eat ducks to keep shooting, besides canpoint, it would not be the same without ya. So we are saving it for next year when we can all get togather.
Hunter loved his first trip to ND, something he or I will never forget, can't wait to get the pics back.
I think we may have chased a few down to you fellas, I guess we will have to come down and see for ourselves!
Had a ball in ND, got back and stuck a 10 pointer with the Bow(had to get Jamie with his dog ACE to help find it), and shot a couple Woodcock today with a friend(Jamie) and my son Hunter. Hope you guys have a great weekend also!!
