Not sure what the exact banding location was.
Fed band? Can call those in for immediate info.
It’s been birds pushing due south thru southern va the last 3 days. Some birds 200 yards high and others barely visible with binos. Ducks and geese but more ducks. None are staying.
It was a fed band I gave the band to a new hunter in the blind so not exactly sure of town it came from but it was outside Detroit.
Giving it a go this morning to see if anything new has shown up. Good luck to anyone out there and be safe!
Probably in or around Harson's Island State Game Area.
They may not be here yet, but I know where they are.
So anyone seeing any new birds?? Hunted yesterday at a farm pond and saw the usual wood ducks, local geese and a small group of mallards. No shots fired.
This morning I hunted a swamp that I saw 50+ mallards working Friday and didn’t see more then 10 mallards today that had no interest in decoying. Shot two wood ducks and a goose.
A lot of swamps are locking up with these temps so I’m gonna give the farm pond a go again in the am with hopes it’s no frozen already. If it’s open that’s where the geese will be heading and hopefully a few big ducks.
I was at Pocossin Lakes NWR at the Pungo unit, photographing this past weekend.. On Friday, I saw HUGE flocks of divers flying in the stratosphere. They were flying NW to SE and "appeared" to be migrating. There are the usual tons of Swans and Snow Geese there. I saw large amounts of Wood Ducks in the ditches around the impoundments. The impoundments and low spots were frozen, for the most part. The ditches have moving water,so they weren't freezing and the Woodies were thick. I saw close to 100 Woodies in just one ditch. After the temps we're going to have this week, I'm thinking big water is the place to be looking at.
