Gray ducks seem to love it. Heard teal do as well. Good strand in some of my shallows this year.

    Thoughts?

Where I hunt we had coontail for years and years and the gadwall loved it. We introduced grass carp into the slough (to make fishing easier)and they eliminated it totally. With the coon tail loss we saw a huge switch in birds killed from gadwall leading the numbers to mallards leading kill.

Seen plenty of gadwall and wigeon use it. Some teal and wood duck use.

Coots & Ringnecks also like coontail. Invertebrates that live there attract some birds too in my opinion. Like anything though the birds will not wanna eat that exclusively.

    .02 cents.

Everyone should have a good cootail hole for early season ducks.
