Today was a good day, despite no wind and less than desire-able skies. 18 birds for 3 old guys in Suisun, all teal and wigeon.

I decided last minute to shoot my 1100 magnum, with the full 30" barrel and #4 shot. I doubled twice, and ever duck I hit dropped dead, except 1 cripple. Didn't lose any birds, and the dog did her job well, for an old lady. All ducks were shot chipping and leafing into the decoys. Had one flock of 5 wigeon whiffle on in and we killed and recovered them all. Copied that on teal as well. I should by all means end the season here. But I won't.

Sure enjoy them balled up widgeon.
We got into them at the club today as well. Mostly pairs and four paks.Really happy they made a good showing, and hope they stick around in good numbers to close out the season.
It just wouldn't be duck season without a good showing by the almighty widgeon, for me at least.
Would love to get some teal shooting at our place, but we've killed a dozen or so in as many years.
like the Eberhart, they're a good addition in Suisun.
How's the sprig shooting been down there this year Dandy?

OK. I admit it. I gave all spoons a pass today. I could have killed 3 or 4, but I had a personal limit of wigeon and teal. It looked for a good while like we would have 3 limits of teal and wigeon. The last hour we held for sprig that never showed. I don't regret it. I saw one buffy.

I always believed the special effect people of Battle Star Galactica had to have some waterfowl hunting experience when they showed the cylons going into battle. Maple leafed all the time.
