leaf looks good and I do not see any visually apparent bent axle or rim. I need to measure for alignment.

I have seen some pretty funky tire wear on trailer tires over the years. If you have scalloped or cupping type wear on the outer edge of the tire it can be from several causes. The spring could be weak or overloaded allowing the trailer to kind of hop or bounce. In some cases, even out of balance can begin to cause that type of wear. Once the wear pattern is set in the tread, it is not going away. If it is simply worn smooth on the outer edge the axle is probably bent in some way.

Have the trailer axle checked for correct camber.

Did the old tire on that side do the same thing? Or, did this wear only show up with the new tires??

Trailer is only two years old, these were the tires that came with it.

Not on topic, but I would suggest when you get new tires to swap to radials. I hate poly tires on trailers.

take a right angle square against the outer tire wall to level ground. does the trailer track straight when you pull it? Can you tell if your suspension U bolts to main frame have moved on the side showing wear?

Safely, jack up the trailer so that bad tire is off the ground, grab the tire on opposite sides and push in and out looking for any play. Odds are you have a loose hub on the axel, been there done that

Poly(ester) refers to the type of fabric material used in the tire casing. I think you mean "bias-ply", which refers to the type of construction, verses "radial-ply".

Radials will wear better...I've switched all mine over. Usually bias tires wear like the OPs but both tires will be worn similar.
