Training collar

    Anytime you find yourself shopping for a hotter collar because the current one wasn't hot enough, please re think that. A well collar conditioned dog should not be obeying cold burns. He should be obeying commands. Something is missing if he's not obeying, and it's not a hotter collar.

    I use an E-collar on my Lab because that's what I trained him on and he only behaves in the field if its on. I don't use one for my Chessie because I trained him after learning better methods. I have the Sportdog 425, had it several years and it works great. It has 7 settings, the dog yipes on level 2 and responds fine on level 1, never tried 3 or higher.

    Were you following any particular program to collar condition your dogs? Which one?
