I know it was talked about awhile back but has anyone used a trash pump to keep a hole open? How'd it work? Any advice?

I have around 40K in various pumps for the work we do (heavy civil) so will share that it is key to keep crap out of the intake. You can always pull the pump up and clean it out, no big deal at work, but not something I'd be wanting to mess with while hunting. I suggest trying to mount the pump so that the intake is out of gravel or muck. crap that will screw up the impellor or just gum you up. If you have to put the intake into a bucket before you place it in your pond first to keep the muck out, do that. if you have to put some large rocks in the bucket first, slice holes in the side, then wrap the bucket with filter fabric, do that. Not perfect solutions, but they work.
