Hey, the Palestinians liked it, got used to it, and are disappointed when more isn’t forthcoming.
How much strife and conflict has there been in the last few years in the settlement? Tell me how badly it was working. Now, of Israel wants to take further action to stake its claim, then fine. We want to move our embassy, fine. But the US saying a "x" is some countrys land when we don't have any direct control seems a bit outside our scope. Let's see how it goes now and how many lives get lost.
Ya thinking that over the past bazillion years that’s never happened before?
Yet, throwing gasoline on the fire is going to help the peace process?
Perhaps a bit of history needs to be given on the city. Since the creation of the state of Israel the city of Jerusalem has been a spot of contention and even before that. Going back to 1948 Israel gained control of the West portion of the city. Jordan took control of the East portion and then in 1967 during the 6 day war of which follow along now Israel was attacked and took control of the entire city and has held it ever since. UN has not wanted this because of the religious significance of the area. The issue of the city of Jerusalem has and was the major stumbling block. While other countries recognized Jordan's claim to the territory they never wanted to do the same for Israel. Spoils of war go to the victor.
Thus there is no gas being tossed, in fact it was simply a stirring of the embers to allow them to burn out faster! Not recognizing Israel's claim as legit more about them really not liking Jewish people or the religion. Dems are at the top of that list and that is really what has driven this and drives it today.
This was a long overdue step and one the US never took but would have without 911 having occurred as shale oil and other oil sources made the hold the Arab states had less of a threat. Then there is our Muslim Brotherhood sympathizer president who did everything he could to tear down the nation of Israel including meddling in the free election. So Trump did what should have been done in 68 and certainly in 80 when the state of Israel declared it is capital!
Interesting Ron, although I imagine most realized this. Now, so I'm guessing that you believe the US should tell all the other countries around the world how to settle their disagreements, who owns what and when they should or should not consider any changes. Ridiculous. Oh, and Ron, I imagine you've noticed that the US is now suggesting/telling Israel how they should be communicating this event to their neighbors and the rest of the world. Hmmmmmm, now what the heck sense does that make? Why should the US tell Israel what they should be saying or how they should be saying it????
Yet you are OK with other countries telling Israel that land they won and occupy and protect is not theirs??? See this goes back to what I said in that you and others like you Jewaphobic racists. Nothing more. Jordon was OK because at the time they had oil. Saudi had oil so we don't want them holding back oil so we wont acknowledge Israel having sovereignty over this area they acquired when attacked.
News flash the middle east doesn't have the strangle hold on oil it once did. So now 67 years after Israel won part of the city in combat and 50 years after winning the balance it is clear who has ownership.
So why shouldn't we do what we do when others have been doing what they have and it is in the best interest of Israel an ally for this to be settled. Otherwise there will be no peace! Carter figured that out, and other leaders agreed and one was killed over this. Peace will only come when they stop treating the capital of Israel as non existent!
What country, other than Israel, has been told where their Capitol will be? Why cant Israel decide where their Capitol will be?
Pin how would eel react if the UN members said that Redfield SD had to be the nations capital and move all its stuff out of DC?? The Jew hating liberals like eel cant phantom the double standard. But then why should we expect them to. After all today is an important day in our history but they are focused on fund raising and telling an ally that they cant have the capital where they want.
Instead of Tora! Tora! Tora! it is the jihad
I guess, for me, is Why? Why do we need to recognize one over the other when it has no bearing on the US.... what is the end game, what do we (Trump) gain from such an announcement, knowing it would do nothing more than cause mass chaos and violence..... is that it, he just wants to watch the world burn.
