I'm afraid that genie's out of the bottle and can't be put back. I don't think it will end humanity but it sure as hell will make AGW moot.

The biggest concern in Erie now are they cyanotoxins that are produce by blue-gree algea. E-coli, which is always a concern, fluctuates due to wind/weather conditions. While e-coli is a byproduct of wastewater contamination, highened levels of it aren't due to more pollution.

The algae blooms are because the lake is so clean now. Phosphorus that is being dumped into the lake from the large agricultural areas in the western basin is providing the fertalizer... the cleanliness of the water is allowing sunlight to get deeper into the water resulting in massive amounts of algae growth... its actually pretty gross.

Danged old zebra mussels....they cleaned up Lake Michigan, which actually hurt the alewife population, smelt and on up the chain to salmon.

On the other side of things, they seem to kill more oldsquaw and scoter there than they used to...

Admittedly, I don't know all the background on the impact of Quagga and Zebra mussels. Some points seem more about damage to water delivery equipment while others are about environmental issues. In CA, there is a visible management presence even down to individual boat owners (which is where I was first affected).

Searched for what? I read it somewhere on here. In thread #475 you said that you don't even live there - so it must have been someone else who lives in Grass Lake.

No I didn't hang out on the MI forum. As I stated earlier it must have been someone else. But I could have sworn it was you. If it wasn't then I'm wrong.

But why would you care if you don't even live there?

It's weird to me for you to even post it. That's all.
