When mud blows out and won't refill to give the prop bite you are not going to go anywhere because of prop cavitation. I have noticed that this can sometimes be remedied with the Prodrive motor with full power reverse. On the Prodrive, when you go in reverse you are actually ratcheting the drive portion of the motor 180 degrees. Your prop is now under the boat, which becomes a huge cavitation plate to keep the mud from blowing out. Doesn't always work, but when it does you are glad you have full power reverse. You can see videos of this on the Prodrive Outboards website.

Notice I said sometimes. Only thing that would work all the time in the mud is an airboat :grvn.

I've been "sideways" a time or 20 in the current. EVERY time it's SCARY AF!

I've seen a few air boats on the delta over the years. Too wide too loud and too tall for me. 1 tree branch and you're done.
A guy really needs 2 or 3 set ups.

A sharp knife saved my butt once in a similar situation... the things we do for ducks.

Powders 40hp tunnel outboard would be ideal for me....
