My oldest daughter (Trevor) came home from college on Friday for the summer and asked "Dad ... when are we going turkey hunting?" So this morning we headed out on property that we own. It has been a long time since I have heard the amount of gobbling or seen this much strutting here in Indiana. It was crazy. After working birds for a couple of hours as they would start coming in, only to be side tracked by hens or fighting with each other, we finally had one slip up and at 15 yards she let her 20 ga bark. A great hunt with my not so much baby girl. No video of this hunt. We decided to just live in the moment and enjoy a hunt together.

My Indiana bird from yesterday, nice 3 year old, looks like I'm done for the year, seems like its over way too soon.
I retired about a month ago so hopefully I'll get to try a couple more states next season.
Congrats to everyone who has tagged a bird, seems like a pretty good year for most so far.
    Stay after them guys.

Wish I knew how to put a video on here, got a sweet video of me smoking my bird with a Magnus Bullhead at 12 yards. 1 bird and 1 weekend left, hopefully I can get my last bird next weekend!

Me and a good bud took these two (our second and final birds) on the first day of Maryland's all day hunting segment (10 May). Birds taken 2 hours apart. P5101648.JPG

Ninja the tail on your turk looks smooth across which in my experience denotes a mature gobbler. Either way congrats way to tip them over.

Hmmm. I really don’t know much about turkeys. It has a 7 and a quarter inch beard , and didn’t have any spurs. Not much of a snood.
