    Actually yea I noticed the black bill too. Forgot to mention that.

    The problem with the drake barrows is that if it was a hen the eye would not be so yellow. Same with feet. The plumage may change in hens turning to drakes but the other characteristics typically never change. However after raising tons of goldeneyes over the years of both kinds......1st year drakes just show the white spot in the head and maybe by spring a little more but come fall for their 2nd year they come in full plumage for all of them. You can't tell that drake from a 10 year old one. At that point an adult is an adult.
