    Dead indeed.

I hunted the northern zone a few times. Also hunted the western zone opener. Saw more ducks the morning of the western zone opening day than any day I have hunted in the past. Also go into some brant.

After hunting four days in the NE Zone other than woodies and teal the highlight of the trip was seeing a flock of four black ducks and a trio of pintails. Unless you have better spots than we do you're probably not at all excited about hunting the NE 2nd opener.

We shall make the trip again in hopes of seeing some migrators.

We were suppose to go up for the first weekend of the second season, this weekend coming up actually. But reports said there were very few birds around so we delayed it to the following weekend.Hope for some cold up north to move the birds down.

What part of the norther zone did you see pintails? I've seen one out by Rochester and know they get a bunch at Montezuma but have not seen one up north.

Marshes east of Lake Ontario. Don't pack your bags and head in that direction. LOL We shoot 1 or 2 a season as a bonus bird.

1big: You might see a little ice on Friday.
darkvibe: it's possible you're seeing pintails, but not recognizing them because they're mostly immature birds. They do have some specific characteristics when they fly that are recognizable.
